After attending a New Brunswick city council meeting I was amazed at how the city administration disregarded resident comments and concerns. I thought, someone needs to film this so the residents can see they need to be active in the politics of the city in order to own their destiny. I wanted to mobilize large groups of people and instill motivation to take back their lives. I want people to vote, when you think about it, all we have is our choice – sometimes we take for granted that we have a choice.

Soon after documenting the city council meetings I was invited to attend a board of education meeting with Yolonda Baker, President of Parents Leading Advocacy for Children’s Education (PLACE). The trend was similar in administrative demeanor and residents religiously attended meetings to voice their concerns for children safety, always asking when the children would no longer be bussed across town to be schooled in warehouses on a suspected superfund cite.
